Verita International School I.K.E. (Verita International School, the School) is incorporated in Greece. Our registered seat is 13 Smirnis Street, Glyfada 165 62. We operate across four campuses in the Athens area, listed in Section 12 of this notice. We are the data controller for personal data processed in connection with this website, which means we decide what data is collected and how it is used.
When you fill in a form on this site, for example to request a brochure, register interest in a campus visit, subscribe to our newsletter, or enquire about admissions, we collect the information you provide. This typically includes your name, email address, telephone number, the age or year group of the child you are enquiring about, and any free-text message you choose to send us.
We use this information to respond to your enquiry, to send you the materials you have requested, and where you have given consent, to keep you informed about events and developments at the School.
When you visit the site, our systems and our analytics providers may automatically collect technical information about your visit, including your IP address, the type of device and browser you are using, the pages you visit, the time of your visit, and how you arrived at the site (for example, from a search engine or social media link). This information is used to operate the site securely and to understand how visitors engage with our content so we can improve it.
This site uses cookies and similar technologies. Section 9 describes them in detail. You can accept, decline, or change your cookie preferences at any time through the consent banner that appears on your first visit, and through the cookie settings link in the site footer.
Under GDPR Article 6, every use of personal data needs a lawful basis. For website processing, we rely on the following:
We do not knowingly collect special category data through this website. If you submit health, religious, or other sensitive information in a free-text field (for example, to explain a child’s learning need when enquiring about admissions), we will handle that information under the explicit consent or vital interests bases set out in our full Data Protection Policy.
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data. We share it only with parties that help us operate the site and the School, and only under contracts that meet the GDPR Article 28 standard for data processors. These currently include:
Some of the providers named in Section 4 are based outside the European Economic Area (EEA), principally in the United States. Where personal data is transferred to a country outside the EEA, we rely on one of the transfer mechanisms permitted under Chapter V of GDPR, which may include an adequacy decision by the European Commission, Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs), or other appropriate safeguards. You can ask the DPO for details of the specific mechanism in use for any provider listed above.
We keep personal data only for as long as is necessary for the purpose for which we collected it, or as required by law. In summary:
Where you become an enrolled family or staff member, longer retention periods apply under our full Data Protection Policy and applicable Greek law, including Greek Law 4808/2021 (employment data) and educational law.
Under GDPR, you have the following rights in relation to personal data we hold about you. To exercise any of them, contact the DPO using the details in Section 11. We will respond within one month, with the possibility of a two-month extension for complex requests, in which case we will tell you within the first month.
| Right | What it means |
|---|---|
| Access (Art. 15) | You can ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, and information about how we use it. |
| Rectification (Art. 16) | You can ask us to correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete. |
| Erasure (Art. 17) | You can ask us to delete personal data where it is no longer needed, where you withdraw consent, or where processing is unlawful. This right is not absolute and may be balanced against legal obligations to retain data. |
| Restriction (Art. 18) | You can ask us to limit how we use your data in certain circumstances, for example while the accuracy of the data is being checked. |
| Portability (Art. 20) | Where processing relies on consent or contract and is automated, you can ask for your data in a structured, machine-readable format. |
| Objection (Art. 21) | You can object to processing based on legitimate interests. We will stop unless we have compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests. |
| Withdraw consent (Art. 7(3)) | Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Withdrawal does not affect processing carried out before withdrawal. |
| Automated decisions (Art. 22) | You have the right not to be subject to decisions made solely by automated processing that significantly affect you. We do not currently make such decisions. |
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Hellenic Data Protection Authority. Contact details are in Section 11.
Under Greek Law 4624/2019, the digital consent age in Greece is 15. If you are under 15, please ask a parent or guardian to give consent before subscribing to our newsletter or otherwise providing personal data through this website. For prospective and enrolled students, our full Data Protection Policy sets out the additional protections we apply to children’s data.
